Question

I am tired of the burn out and expense of halogen bulbs. I switched to Xenon, but the heat is still too intense. Any advice?

Answer

Halogen bulbs are notorious for their heat output, Xenon bulbs are cooler but still hot enough to burn your fingers. We recommend you allow a gap between the mounting surface and the fixture so the heat can escape. Do not touch the bulbs while installing them. The oils from your fingers will cause the bulb to burn through its glass wall.

An even better idea is to look at the new Light Emitting Diode (LED) lamps. LED’s use small electronic diodes to create light. These lamps use very little electricity, do not emit the immense heat of Halogens or Xenon, and have a life of 50,000 hours! They come in several colors including warm white and cool white and are available in the same sizes as halogen puck lights. Contact Eterna Lighting for LED lights.
